Sometimes It’s Better Not to Know
The other day I was thinking about what people really want to know about when they go to a psychic or medium for a reading. Of course there are always the questions about careers, relationships and health. Most people want to know about what their financial future looks like, are they in the right relationship (or will they ever find the right relationship) or are there any health issues they should be aware of, etc. They are basically looking for some guidance in the proper way to navigate through these sometimes confusing and turbulent waters. Each psychic/medium has their own way of receiving information from their “higher source” and relaying that information to their clients. As an example, some people are great at doing astrological charts, reading tarot cards, or maybe using pendulums to deliver their information. Mediums can get their messages from spirits and loved ones who have crossed over and psychics can have the gift of clairvoyance where they can predict upcoming events for people.
Growing up with a psychic mother, I learned early on that my mom had a particular way of reading her clients. She could just look at them or hear their voice and be able to tell them very intimate and personal details about their life in a matter of seconds. People were always amazed at the information she could come up with just by looking at them! As an Intuitive Coach, I get my messages from connecting with my Spirit Guides who bring forth their guidance and wisdom from another dimension. I always explain to my clients that when they get a reading from me, it’s basically like getting a “life coaching” session from the spirit world. The Guides are very focused on what is currently happening in my client’s life, what they need to work on to make their life more fulfilling and give them the tools needed to get on the right track and help them attain their goals.
I think the biggest misconception of people getting a reading is that they expect the psychic or medium to know absolutely everything about their life and be able to predict any sort of disaster that may be coming down the line. I’ve actually had people e-mail or call me months after they’ve had a reading wanting to know why I didn’t see the earthquake that would ruin their home or the fender bender that their teenage son got into. I always think this is interesting because what if I did see these events taking place? What would they do with the information except worry about when it was going to happen (i.e. I see your son getting into a car accident some time this year.) There is absolutely nothing you can do about it except drive yourself crazy with anxiety every time he walks out the door. People need to understand that there are some things that we are not meant to know ahead of time but are meant to experience instead. Most of the time there are important lessons in these situations that we need to learn. It may be that we need to go through the good, the bad and the ugly before we can change the way we are currently living our lives.
Although I always want to help my clients to the best of my ability, I also know there are always other factors involved. Free will (the freedom of choice) always plays a big part in a person’s life. The person has to take the information I give them and willingly make the changes that are suggested to them. I cannot do this for them. There is also the component of the “unforeseeable.” These may be factors there is no way to predict (i.e. going on vacation and getting caught in a Tsunami.) Sometimes fate intervenes to teach us our lessons.
The best advice I can give about getting a reading is to take the helpful information you receive, apply what makes sense, and don’t dwell on the rest. Use your best judgment in making decisions about the things you have control over (what foods you eat, what person you choose to get involved with, and how you choose to spend your money) and leave the rest up to fate! Sometimes it’s better not to know everything.
